SAP has named John Ruthven (pic) its senior vice president of Cloud and Line of Business for Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) as the company focuses on expanding the enterprise cloud business, saying it already has strong momentum in the region and is committed to becoming the world’s leading cloud company.
Ruthven will drive SAP’s ‘cloud first’ strategy across line of business solutions and oversee the entire cloud portfolio in the region, SAP said in a statement.
Based in Sydney, Ruthven reports to Robert Enslin, acting president of SAP APJ and president of Global Customer Operations of SAP AG; and Shawn Price, global head of Cloud and Line of Business for SAP AG.
“Cloud is now at the centre of every customer conversation and is at the core of our technology and business strategy,” said SAP APJ chief operating officer Adaire Fox-Martin.
“Today, SAP is the world’s second largest enterprise cloud business and as we aspire to be No 1, John Ruthven’s proven leadership in this space will take SAP Cloud powered by SAP HANA to the next level,” she added.
Ruthven brings to SAP 18 years of experience in the IT industry with particular expertise in regional and international management and sales operations.
Prior to joining SAP, he served as senior vice president of international sales at Zuora Inc, and general manager of emerging markets at CA Technologies.
A native of Australia, Ruthven holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education with post-graduate studies in Marketing and International Business.
SAP APJ said it grew triple digits in cloud in its 2013 financial year. SAP also claims it has the largest subscriber base with more than 35 million cloud users worldwide, of which one million are from its ‘APJ’ region.
