GERMAN communications technology group Kathrein has opened a new office in Singapore that will serve as its Asia Pacific regional headquarters, and appointed Ashwini Bakshi (pic above) as its Asia Pacific managing director.
This step is part of the company’s strategy to enhance its presence in regional markets and to serve customers comprehensively, it said in a statement.
Kathrein said it sees attractive business potential in the region: Nearly half of the world’s mobile phone users are registered in Asia Pacific, with a continuing upward trend.
As with other regions, customers in Asia Pacific have ever growing expectations regarding network availability, reliability, and quality.
Ashwini has been working in communications since 1995, and has held leading positions at Nokia, Nokia-Siemens Networks, and most recently at Ericsson.
“Technologies are converging, the connected world is becoming ever more complex. and the demands on communication technologies are constantly rising,” he said.
“This is particularly true for the Asia Pacific region with its large metropolitan areas,” he added.
