Carousell partners with BluInc Media, launches SheShops Marketplace

Carousell has expanded its partnership with SPH Magazines via its subsidiary BluInc Media to bring over 1.6 million fashion and beauty sales listings to the digital editions of selected magazines in Malaysia.
Carousell is a Singapore-based mobile-centric consumer-to-consumer marketplace startup whose stated mission is to inspire millions to worldwide to start selling by offering the simplest e-commerce experience possible.
The partnership, which includes titles Female, EH!, Cleo, and Glam, is the company’s first in Malaysia, and is aimed at helping sellers reach a larger pool of buyers seamlessly.
Members selling in the categories ‘For Her’ and ‘Beauty Products’ can list an item for sale, and reach a large and targeted audience of fashion and beauty magazine readers via BluInc Media properties, in addition to the Carousell community.
“We began our expansion efforts into Malaysia early this year, and we’re now ready to accelerate growth with this expanded partnership. Our commitment is to offer users in Malaysia the simplest selling experience," said Lucas Ngoo, co-founder of Carousell.
The partnership will also aim to enrich the experience for readers of Female, EH!, Cleo and Glam magazines.
While they catch up on the latest fashion and beauty news, they can now also shop from a variety of pre-loved and new ladies’ apparel, shoes, bags and beauty products sold by members of the Carousell community at prices as much as 80% off retail price.
The listings will be displayed on a website called SheShops Marketplace.
Carousell first partnered with SPH Magazines in August 2013 and has reported receiving positive feedback for the collaboration. Starting with 200,000 fashion and beauty listings, it has since grown to over 1.6 million listings, the company claims.
Joseph Lee, managing director of New Media at SPH Magazines, described the partnership with Carousell over the past year as “exciting and mutually rewarding.”
“In view of our positive experience, we will be expanding our partnership with Carousell into Malaysia. It is great to see the transformation process of a local tech startup expanding their market presence, and SPH Magazines is glad to be part of that process,” he added.
To celebrate this expanded collaboration, Carousell and SPH Magazines are running a '3-for-3' giveaway. List three fashion and beauty items on Carousell for sale, and get three months of digital magazine subscription by SPH Magazines for free.
