DiGi makes Forbes World’s Most Innovative Companies 2014 list

  • Sole Malaysian company, only telco operator from Asia
  • 22 Asian companies in list dominated by US companies

MOBILE services provider DiGi.com Bhd has been listed in the Forbes World’s Most Innovative Companies 2014 list, just making the cut into the No 100 spot.

DiGi was the only Malaysian company among the 100 companies listed by Forbes, and the only telecommunications operator from Asia, it said in a statement.

Twenty-two Asian companies made it to this year’s list. Japan led the way with eight companies, followed by six from China, five from India, and one each from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore.

Corporations from the United States dominated the list with 39 companies, including some of the world’s most renowned brands like Salesforce, Amazon.com, Netflix, MasterCard, Starwood Hotels, and Procter & Gamble, among others, DiGi noted.

Firms on this list were ranked based on their innovation premium, which measures how much the stock market thinks a company will come up with fresh, money-making ideas over and above its existing businesses in the next several years, according to Forbes.

DiGi makes Forbes World’s Most Innovative Companies 2014 listThis is the second time DiGi has been recognised in a Forbes list; in 2012 the company was acknowledged as one of Asia Pacific's 50 best publicly traded companies, and inducted into Forbes Asia's Fabulous 50 list for the year.

“We’re proud to be recognised by Forbes for our deep track record on driving innovation in all areas of our business,” said Lars-Ake Norling (pic), DiGi’s new chief executive officer.

“One of the central characteristics of DiGi is innovation, and much of our growth has been a direct result of our strong ability to constantly redefine go-to-market approaches, operating models, customer focus, and ways of working.

“Over the years, we have gained a reputation not only for being one of Malaysian’s favourite brands but for consistently driving growth through innovation,” he added.
