MANHATTAN Associates Inc has unveiled an application that it said provides distribution managers with unmatched insight into labour, activities, waves and tasks – all on a mobile device.
 
Manhattan’s Mobile Distribution Management leads warehouse managers and supervisors out of their offices and into the action, where they can provide real-time coaching and feedback to employees, the company said in a statement.
 
The new mobile application suite has features that allow managers to dynamically allocate work in progress directly from the floor, such as reprioritising tasks, putting tasks on hold, and assigning a task to a specific employee.
 
“In today’s demanding environment, distributors are challenged to meet higher service levels and operational cost constraints, but they often have limited access to the real-time operational data they need when out on the warehouse floor,” said William Chaylis, South-East Asia regional sales manager at Manhattan Associates.
 
“Mobile solutions for distribution managers can help them ditch their desktops and gain access to real-time information on their mobile device,” he added.
 
A recent study by Manhattan Associates found that mobility is a key factor in increasing direct engagement between warehouse supervisors and employees.
 
One-third of the respondents stated that mobility could double the amount of time that supervisors spend providing feedback and coaching their employees.
