TELEKOM Malaysia Bhd (TM) said it would be using EMC Corp’s Smarts solution for its high-speed broadband (HSBB) network infrastructure.
EMC Smarts is an operations support system that provides a service-centric approach to network management, TM said in a statement.
The solution will give TM end-to-end visibility of its network and services, allowing the telco to use intelligent analysis tools to automatically pinpoint the root cause of network problems and their associated service impacts.
This would enable TM to take speedy and efficient corrective action, resulting in higher levels of service for its customers while increasing operational efficiency, the telco claimed.
“[Our] HSBB network infrastructure is built from a heterogeneous collection of hardware and software that becomes exponentially more complex as the network expands,” said TM chief technology and innovation officer Giorgio Migliarina.
“With EMC Smarts, we are able to identify issues that cause service disruption as well as other connectivity challenges in such a multi-layered environment, reducing downtime and minimising expert resources,” he added.
EMC Malaysia managing director Cheam Tat Inn said, “The breadth of our partnership with TM ensures that TM's end-to-end network, service and data centres are extensively supported by EMC Smarts.
“We are glad that we have been able to enable TM … to take control of its complex network infrastructure, enable speedy fault detection and correction, ensure operational efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction,” he added.
