BY now, most people would know how Digi.Com Bhd performed in the first quarter (Q1) of 2016.
Instead of diving deep into those numbers, Digital News Asia (DNA) would like to share SIX interesting takeaways from Digi’s Q1 results. (Yes, six instead of five – we like to be unpredictable that way!)
1) Wait a minute – Digi is now No 1?

Yes, thousands of Digi employees were probably partying hard over the weekend as they are now working with the mobile operator with the largest subscriber base.
The company ended Q1 2016 with 12.34 million subscribers, comprising 10.43 million prepaid subscribers and 1.9 million postpaid subscribers. In contrast, Maxis has 12.31 million subscribers.
With the recent spectrum reallocation announcement, and with its lead in subscriber base, it is clear that Digi is no longer the underdog in Malaysia’s mobile industry.
But while it secures its lead in the prepaid segment, its other segments are not faring so well, however.
