Acer Day 2020 goes online with promos, games, and the latest Predator Helios gaming laptops

Despite the unprecedented times we’re in, the annual Acer Day celebration will be continuing this year. Acer Malaysia taking a portion of the celebration online while maintaining the plethora of games, promotions, challenges and lucky draw sessions. But that’s not all. Malaysians will also be seeing the refresh versions of the Predator Helios 700 and Helios 300 laptops.
“The year 2020 marks the fourth edition of Acer Day and we want to invite Malaysians to join our celebration themed ‘Feel the Vibe’ together. With precautionary measures still widely encouraged during our planning stage, we decided against running roadshows in multiple states for the safety of customers,” says Acer Malaysia director of Consumer Business, Product and Marketing Johnson Seet.
“We believe the online event can be just as fun and rewarding for many. Aside from games and free gifts, we are also conducting a 3-day Super Brand Day on Shopee from 2 to 4 August 2020 this time around. Available specially just for this special period are attractive promotions, Massive Deal with 83% off, and Shopee vouchers worth up to RM200 (US$47).”
The Acer Day virtual event kicked off on the Acer Malaysia Facebook page, yesterday starting from 3pm. Lucky draw sessions were held in addition to performances by Linora, Pong Pong and Cikidot.
This year, prizes worth more than US$5,200 (RM22,000) will be up for grabs, including a Predator Helios 300 (PH315-52-59CY) and a Predator Triton 700 (PT715-51-74MY). On top of that, the Acer Bid & Shop charity auction session, which aims to raise funds for the Dignity for Children Foundation, will be conducted during the Acer Day virtual event.

Starting from 1 August 2020 until 30 September 2020, customers who purchase select Acer models from any Acer authorised online or offline retail shop will be rewarded with an entry to “Buy and Win Lucky Draw” and value-added gifts worth up to RM500,000 in total.
Customers just need to submit their receipt at www.a-redemption.com to claim their gifts, and register their participation in the “Buy and Win Lucky Draw” that has a prize pool worth more than RM26,000.
Among the prizes in the lucky draw are Predator gaming laptops, Acer Swift 7, monitor and gaming headsets. The lucky winner will be chosen during the livestream on Acer Malaysia Facebook.
The Helios refreshers
In an online press event, Acer Malaysia took the opportunity to introduce the refreshed Helios 700 and Helios 300 gaming laptops. Announced during the Next@Acer global press conference, the Helios 700 is an uber-powered desktop replacement powered by up to an overclockable 10th Gen Intel Core i9-10980HK processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER graphics card.
It features the iconic sliding HyperDrift keyboard as well as the new thermal solution from Acer, dubbed the Predator PowerGem. This is a special thermal interface material which has 3.83 times more vertical heat conductivity that the standard copper heat pipes.
Other specs include a 17.3-inch 144Hz FHD IPS display, and up to 64GB of RAM and two PCIe NVMe SSD storages configurations. The per-key RGB lighting and anti-ghosting keyboard are now updated with MagTek mechanical switches for the WASD keys and a set of new racing keys, which can be swapped.
The Predator Helios 700 prices at RM12,999 for the version running the 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor with the RTX 2070 SUPER graphics card, while the top-end version with the Core i9 goes for RM17,999.
The Predator Helios 300 is the more affordable alternative. This is a 15.6-inch laptop with a 144Hz display, running the latest 10th Gen Intel Core processors on top of 8GB RAM (upgradable to 32GB) and a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. Handling the graphical load is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU.
It also comes with additional M.2 slot and a HDD slot with HDD upgrade kit in the box, allowing users to upgrade the laptop in the future. Retail price for the Predator Helios 300 starts from RM4,599, with availability from 2 August 2020 onwards.
During the online press event, Acer Malaysia shared that the Nitro 5 gaming laptop running AMD Ryzen 4000 CPUs (announced during the Next@Acer conference) is expected to arrive sometime in August 2020. The new Predator X OSIM Gaming Chair (the massage gaming chair announced last month) should also make an appearance in Q3 2020.
