Acer Malaysia announces 2021 refresh of laptop line-up

• New Spin laptops  feature convertible screens and powerful specs in slim, light design
• Acer also introduced the Enduro Urban N3 laptop made for field, manufacturing work

ACER Malaysia has announced a refresh of its laptop lines for work, study and entertainment.

These include the updated Spin 5 and Spin 3 laptops, the new Acer Swift 3 and a face-lifted Aspire 3 and introduce slender yet rugged Enduro Urban N3, it said in a statement.

The Acer Spin 5 is a touchscreen convertible laptop weighing at just 1.2kg with a 14.8mm thin build. Its sibling, the Spin 3, weights a little more (1.4kg, at 15.9mm thickness). Both laptops, however, feature 360-degree hinges that transform them into a variety of different form factors – either a clamshell laptop, a tablet, or in tent mode for watching movies.

They do differ in screen sizes and type.

The Spin 5, for instance, offers 13.5-inch QHD IPS display with slim-bezel design (with an 80% screen-to-body ratio), at a 3:2 vertiview ratio that gives the screen more real estate.

The refreshed Spin 3, on the other hand, sports a 13.3-inch WQXGA multi-touch IPS display. Both laptops come with built-in Acer Active Stylus.

The Spin 5 and Spin 3 are Intel Evo platform laptops, and are powered by up to 11th-Gen Intel Core i7 processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics.

They feature up to 16GB of onboard RAM and 512GB storage. Acer Spin 5 has the latest PCIe Gen 4 SSD, which makes for faster transfer speeds. Acer claims that both offer 15-hour battery life with fast-charge technology.

The Acer Spin 5 and Spin 3 are available right now at all Acer official online stores and Acer authorised resellers, priced at US$1,109 (RM4,599) and US$965 (RM3,999) respectively.

Swift aspirations

If you’re not keen on touchscreens, you can opt for the new Acer Swift 3, an ultraportable weighing merely 1.2kg with a 15.95mm thin aluminium and magnesium-aluminium metal chassis.

The laptop is powered by an 11th- Gen Intel Core i7 processor and Intel Iris Xe graphics.

Like its convertible brethren, the Swift 3 can also be configured up to 16GB of RAM with PCIe Gen 4 SSD for storage. Additionally, the new Swift 3 is equipped with a 14-inch FHD IPS display supporting 100% sRGB colour gamut.

The Acer Swift 3 is available from RM3,499, and can be purchased at all Acer official online stores and authorised resellers nationwide.

It’s worth noting that the device comes pre-installed with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019.

For something that costs less, customers can opt for the new electric blue Acer Aspire 3, which comes with a slimmer design plus an ergonomic hinge that Acer said helps pull in additional airflow from underneath the laptop.

This notebook is powered by either an 11th-Gen Intel Core i7 or i5 processor, alongside 512GB of SSD storage with 8GB DDR4 RAM. It also features a HDD upgrade kit and additional memory slot for those who need to improve its performance.

The new Aspire 3 features a 15.6-inch FHD IPS display and now comes pre-installed with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019.

It will be available in the aforementioned sources for RM2,899.

The Enduro goes urban

Joining these refreshed laptops is the Enduro Urban N3, part of the series of devices designed for field and manufacturing workers.

The Enduro Urban N3 features a signature four-corner protection, and has been tested to meet military standard (MILSTD 810H) certification.

The device is powered by an 11th Gen Intel Core processor with Intel Iris Xe Graphics, partnered with up to 8GB RAM and 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD.

Acer said that the device’s capacities can also be improved according to user needs. It also comes pre-installed with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019.

The Enduro Urban N3 has three variants. Available at all Acer official online stores and all Acer authorized resellers nationwide, Enduro Urban N3 with 11th Gen Intel Core i7 processor will be available end-June, priced at RM3,699.

The Enduro Urban N3 with 11th Gen Intel Core i5 processor is available immediately for RM2,999, while the variant with 11th Gen Intel Core i3 processor is available immediately at SenHeng and SenQ outlets and online store for RM2,799.
