Four cameras headline the new Huawei Nova 2i

Huawei recently revealed their new smartphone the Nova 2i, that features not two but four cameras on the front and rear, for some photography magic.

Measuring only 7.5mm, the Nova 2i joins the ranks of thin smartphones in the market. To meet the demands of modern smartphone users it features a 5.93-inch display dubbed 'FullView' by Huawei with an 18:9 ratio. The bezel-less display boasts an 83% screen-to-body real estate, giving 12.5% more display with Full High-Definition at 1,080 x 2,160.

The processor of the phone is Huawei’s own 8-core HiSilicon Kirin 659, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It also can accept microSD cards up to 256GB in size for expansion.

The cameras are the stares of the show, however, with the dual camera systems on the front and rear. The front selfie camera possesses twin 13-Megapixel + 2-Megapixel lenses, offering photography capabilities such as precise 3D facial technology, portrait enhancements and beauty effects. Huawei also fitted a smart DSLR-level ambient front flashlight in the HUAWEI nova 2i, for better skin colour reproduction when taking photos.

At the back, there is a 16 -Megapixel + 2-Megapixel lens combo that combines images to reproduce DSLR-like bokeh effects. Coupled with 1.75um large pixel size on the main sensor, users can capture sharper and clearer images.

Powering the Huawei Nova 2i is a 3,340mAh battery, that Huawei claims to last up to two days and can be charged with a USB Type-C connector.

In terms of software, the Nova 2i runs Huawei’s EMUI 5.1 on top of Android 7.0, which the company says will automatically adapt itself to fit the app running on the screen into the new 18:9 screen. There is also a high-quality audio mode, made possible with HUAWEI Histen – an intelligent algorithm that includes 10 targeted modules for various effects, including 3D stereo surround effect.

The HUAWEI nova 2i is available in Graphite Black, Prestige Gold and Aurora Blue and retails at RM1,299 nationwide. Interested customers can also pre-order the phone from October 13, and receive a premium gift set worth RM 499 (while stocks last).
