iPro launches Atom-powered Win8.1 tablet in Malaysia

• Priced at US$219, aimed at both casual gaming and productivity
• Comes with 1yr subscription to Office 365, 1TB storage on OneDrive

KUALA Lumpur-based iPro Mobile (M) Sdn Bhd has launched its LivePad 8.9 tablet, powered by Intel Corp’s Atom Z3735F Quad-Core processor and running on Microsoft Corp’s Windows 8.1 operating system, priced at RM799 (US$219).
 
The 16GB tablet comes with 2GB RAM (Random Access Memory) and an 8.9in 1920 x 1200 HD (high definition) display, ideal for both casual gaming and productivity work including word and image processing, Intel said in a statement.
 
It is supported by an 8000mAh battery. A keyboard and pouch also retail for RM199 (US$55).
 
“We are proud to present our very first 8.9in tablet based on [Intel’s Atom] and hope that our customers will be blown away by the full Windows 8.1 PC experience in its slim, streamlined form factor,” said Daniel Chia, head of sales and marketing at iPro Mobile.
 
“We are working closely in cooperation with local tech players such as iPro Mobile to bring new devices and innovation to market in Malaysia,” said Intel Malaysia and Singapore country manager Sumner Lemon.
 
LivePad 8.9 users also get a free one-year subscription of Office 365 Personal that includes Power Point, Word, Excel, and OneNote; plus one terabyte of cloud storage through OneDrive.
