- New ultra-compact, tough RX0 brings professional video quality down to a small size
- Improvements to RX10 IV superzoom allows it to focus quicker, capture faraway subjects
SONY Malaysia revealed two new digital imaging products: the DSC-RX0 and DSC-RX10 IV that it hopes will open up more creative options for creators.
Announced during the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) in Berlin, the RX0 is an ultra-compact camera that is designed to be water- and crush-proof without needing an additional casing.
With a 24mm Zeiss Tessar wide-angle lens coupled with a 1-inch type 15.3-Megapixel Exmor RS CMOS sensor, similar to its RX100 series of compact camera, the RX0 crams advanced photo and video capabilities into a small body.
Conceived as a video camera for professionals and amateur filmmakers, the RX0’s unique ability to wirelessly control up to five other RX0 units via Sony’s PlayMemories mobile app, lets users capture subjects in exciting new ways.
Sony said it has begun taking pre-orders for the RX0 which retails for RM3,199.
Sony also introduced an update to its super-zoom camera the RX10 IV. Just like the version before, the latest Mark IV has a long-reaching 24-600mm lens with an aperture of f/2.4 at the widest angle and goes down to f/4 at the telephoto end of the range. With Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation, the camera is able to compensate for shakes and allows for better shooting in low light.
Some of the notable improvements include a Fast Hybrid AutoFocus (AF) system that has a super-fast 0.03-second autofocus response and fast 24 frames per second (fps) continuous shooting paired with 315-points of AF coverage for tracking moving subjects effortlessly.
Another notable and much wanted improvement in the Mark IV is the inclusion of Touch to Focus on the camera’s tiltable LCD screen, making it easy to switch focus while shooting stills or movies.
The Mark IV also packs professional quality 4K video recording capabilities and the ability to record videos in super slow motion at 250fps.
Other features include dust and moisture resistance and the inclusion of an OLED viewfinder so you can continue shooting even on a bright and sunny day.
Similar to the RX0, pre-orders for the RX10 IV have begun and it will be available at RM7,999.
