Sony unveils new flagship Xperia range in Malaysia

Sony Mobile Communications unveiled the company's latest flagship devices in Malaysia with the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. The two models were launched at the recent Mobile World Congress 2018 and they were were both built around the concept of bringing immersive entertainment wherever you go.

The Xperia XZ2 has an extended 5.7-inch display that is in the popular 18:9 aspect ratio. The display benefits from Sony's Bravia technology and X-reality for mobile that up-converts content to near High Dynamic Range (HDR), giving users a cinematic experience on the go. Powerful front facing stereo speakers with Sony's S-Force Front Surround, it is said to be the loudest Xperia speaker ever. Adding to that is support for Hi-Resolution Audio, ensuring top quality audio whether it is connected via wireless speakers or headphones.

Sony has also pushed its Motion Eye camera, upgrading the XZ2 series cameras with its intelligent control features such as Predictive Capture with motion and smile detection, autofocus burst and predictive autoocus. It is also said to be the world's 1st 4K HDR movie recording on a smartphone, capturing all the contrast, detail and colour that can be seen on a compatible HDR TV or YouTube. Users also have access to super slow motion video recording that now captures videos at a blazing 960 frames per second enabling one to slow down fast movements like a balloon popping or a spray of water.

Another unique feature of the camera is its 3D scanning capability. Not only can you create 3D scans of objects or people's faces, but it is now extended to the front camera too so you can create 3D selfies for a truly unique virtual avatar.

All these featreus are packed within a new design that features a fluid and seamless 3D glass surface while protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It has four different finishes that offer a beautiful reflection and shine from every angle be it in Liquid Silver, Liquid Black, Deep Green and Ash Pink. Just like its predecessor, the XZ2 and XZ2 Compact are water and dus resistant with rating of IP65/ 68, so you don't have to worry if it gets wet in the rain.

This being a flagship device, the two models will running on Android 8.0 Oreo and will come powered by the cutting-edge Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform supported by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Complimented by a large 3,810mAh battery the XZ2 offers worry free all day usage. 

Meanwhile, the smaller XZ2 Compact packs all the great features of the XZ2 within a 5-inch display that has all the benefits of its larger cousin but within a more pocketable package. The main difference lies in the colour offerings in White Silver, Black, Moss Green and Coral Pink.

According to Sony Mobile Communication, the XZ2 and XZ2 Compact will be available in Malaysia starting April 2018 at RM3,299 and RM2,899 respectively.
