VIVO Malaysia on May 3 announces the latest version of its selfie focused smartphone the V5s.

The successor to the V5 sports a metal unibody design that weighs just 154g and boasts sleek lines with seamless curved edges.

It features a 5.5-inch HD resolution screen that is protected by 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass.

True to its selfie nature the V5s puts its best foot forward with its front camera. Equipped with 20-Megapixel with an IMX376 sensor, that was co-engineered with Sony, with a f/2.0 aperture and an updated Selfie Softlight features that Vivo claims to take better pictures.

The V5s comes with other selfie features such as Face Beauty 6.0, that as its name implies beautifies subjects, and Group Selfie that helps users capture more people in a shot.

The rear camera is a 13- Megapixel f/2.2 shooter with Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) technology and LED flash.

Under the hood, the V5s is powered by a Mediatek MT6750 octa-core processor with Mali-T860 graphics processing unit (GPU) that is paired with 4GB of RAM and roomy 64GB of internal storage.

If that isn’t enough, users can expand the storage up to an additional 256GB.

On the software side, the V5s runs on Vivo’s FunTouch OE 3.0 running on top of Android 6.0.1.

Apart from snapping photos, Vivo is looking to appeal to audiophiles with its built-in Digital Analog Converter (DAC) that is said to deliver cleared audio quality.

Other features include an App Clone feature that provides the convenience of accessing multiple social media accounts in apps like WhatsApp, Line, WeChat and Viber.

The vivo V5s will come in matte black, gold and rose gold. Pre-orders start on May 3 and it will officially go on sale in Malaysia for a retail price of US$301 (RM1,299).
