Xiaomi announces super-sized Mi Max 2

CHINESE technology company Xiaomi recently announced its latest large-screen smartphone the Mi Max 2.
The metal unibody design houses a 6.44-inch display and stereo speakers that activate in landscape orientation. Xiaomi says that the Mi Max 2 is perfect for watching movies or TV shows on-the-go.
To help navigate the Mi Max 2’s large screen, it has a One-Handed mode that reduces the screen size for easy operation. Xiaomi says it’s MIUI 8 interface laid over Android N will soon receive Split Screen functionality that allows users to take advantage of the larger screen real estate and run two apps at once.
For added security and ease of unlocking the phone, it has a rear fingerprint sensor.
To help power it through the day, it has a massive 5,300mAh battery that Xiaomi says can provide up to 18 hours of video playback and 21 hours of GPS navigation. The huge battery can also be used to charge other smartphones that are connected to its USB Type-C port.
Despite its large capacity, the Mi Max 2 also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 with parallel charging that is said to allow for fast-charging while controlling the temperature.
The Mi Max 2 comes outfitted with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB of RAM and in with either 64GB or 128GB of internal memory. It has a microSD card slot that accepts cards up to 128GB in size.
For optics, it has a 12-Megapixel Sony IMX386 camera and a 5-Megapixel front camera.
Xiaomi says the Mi Max 2 will be available in China from June 1 onwards with a retail price of US$248 (RMB1,699) for the 64GB version and US$292 (RMB1,999) for the 128GB version.
Xiaomi has yet to announce when the Mi Max 2 will be available in Southeast Asia.
