F-Secure rolls out cloud-based Protection Service for Business

F-SECURE Corp has introduced Protection Service for Business (PSB), a cloud-based platform that provides protection while increasing productivity.

PSB offers companies, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the edge they require to perform at a more productive pace, along with comprehensive protection for the whole IT environment, while being cost-efficient, the company said in a statement.

Businesses rely heavily on technology, but many still lack a modern security solution that covers all layers in the organisation and fixes software vulnerabilities the moment updates are available, F-Secure said.

PSB is a comprehensive turnkey protection suite for multi-device settings, offering security as well as advanced value-added features such as Software Updater, which ensures worry-free updated protection.

“The new PSB solution allows businesses, especially SMEs, to focus more on their business and leave security to the experts,” said F-Secure president and chief executive officer Christian Fredrikson.

“By choosing security as a service, businesses no longer have to worry about IT security, security settings or software updates. PSB will protect all devices against the latest security threats, and F-Secure will maintain the whole solution together with the local IT security partner to monitor and manage the customer’s devices.

“No additional hardware investment is required, which translates to direct cost savings to the enterprise, and increased productivity for the business,” he said at the Kuala Lumpur launch of PSB recently.

The cloud-based solution protects computers (PCs, laptops, Macs), file servers (Windows and Linux), email servers (Microsoft Exchange) and mobile devices (phones and tablets), F-Secure said.

Meanwhile, F-Secure Asia Pacific vice president Paul Palmer said that with Malaysia being South-East Asia’s third-largest economy and ranking sixth in the list of the world’s 20 emerging markets, PSB is a perfect fit for SMEs in Malaysia.

The next product on the cards for the Finnish company is Freedome, a simple security and online privacy solution that allows users to browse safely in a virtual private network, blocking harmful sites as well as applications.

It also shields the user’s privacy, giving anonymity and a clean digital footprint, away from the eyes of advertisers or cybercriminals, F-Secure said.

“Freedome is a game-changing technology which is set to alter the web sphere significantly. The first-of-its-kind product will be released in Malaysia later this year, as one of the many F-Secure outreach product plans, along with younited and PSB,” said Fredrikson.

F-secure launched its ‘younited’ personal content cloud service last November, saying it offers a fun, engaging experience with rock-solid privacy and security.
