PHILIPS Malaysia has partnered with local consulting and technology firm Xtrategize to launch the BlipMY.com online store for the consumer electronics company.
The partnership will see Philips fully enter the e-commerce market, while Xtrategize will spearhead the development and management of the online store, Philips Malaysia said in a statement.
The South-East Asia e-commerce market has been growing steadily in recent years, the company said.
According to PayPal, the e-commerce market in Malaysia itself has grown from RM3.65 billion in 2013 to RM4.76 billion in 2014, and is expected to grow to RM5.76 billion by 2015, Philips Malaysia said. [RM1 = US$0.31]
“BlipMY.com is a result of our shared belief that the e-commerce market is the future of the consumer experience,” said Muhammad Ali Jaleel, country manager for the Philips Group of Companies in Malaysia, and general manager, Consumer Lifestyle for Philips Malaysia.
“We chose Xtrategize as our partner because we believe that it has deep insights and understand the online market in Malaysia, being a homegrown company.
“And like us, they are committed to doing things differently and more efficiently,” he added.
BlipMY.com will be the first official online distributor for Philips products in the country and will initially offer around 140 best-loved Philips products before expanding to the brand’s full range of products, coming online in phases till the end of the year, Philips Malaysia said.
“BlipMY.com … focuses on trust, reliability and convenience – factors that mean the most to e-shoppers in Malaysia, alongside surprise treats and good deals,” said Xtrategize cofounder and chief financial officer Tony Ong.
“We are committed to investing our resources, and leveraging our technological expertise and innovative design to provide a complete Philips product experience for consumers through this online store,” he added.
While the e-commerce market has demonstrated tremendous growth, online security still remains one of the top concerns for Malaysians.
Further research by PayPal has shown that close to 60% of Malaysians are hesitant to shop online due to security concerns such as fraud and theft of financial information.
To ensure customers have a worry-free experience on the online store, Philips Malaysia and Xtrategize said their main focuses for BlipMY.com are reliability and trust, alongside simplicity and convenience, on a secure and scalable platform.
