MOSTI announces MYHackathon 2022 Cohort 1 winners

Provides platform for startups to innovate and become more competitive
The Malaysian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) has announced its winners for MYHackathon 2022 Cohort 1 at RekaScape, Cyberjaya yesterday.
All MYHackathon 2022 winners will receive a startup grant of up to US$56,000 (RM250,000) and one-to-one mentorship to develop and execute their pilot project for 12 months.
In his welcoming remarks, Mosti Minister, Adham Baba, noted that the number of applicants received this year was really encouraging with 433 applications that came from participants with different expertise like marketing, product design and artificial intelligence.
There are also applications from outside of the Klang Valley including Sabah and Sarawak.
“MYHackathon, organized by Cradle is the best example of a programme which combines funding and talent development interventions that are strategically planned under the Malaysian Startup Ecosystem Roadmap (SUPER) 2021-2030.
“We are hopeful that with these type of programmes, we can further attract investors towards high potential technology startups in Malaysia to expand their businesses not only locally but even globally,” said Adham.
He added, “I feel that the recognition and grant award is a very important starting point for the MYHackathon 2022 winners. It is time to prove that the ability and expertise of our local startups are on par with those from developed countries.”
Participants had to solve five problem statements brought from ministries and government agencies. These were:

With the theme ‘Hackathon Nasional Untuk Malaysia Yang Inklusif or, National Hackathon for an Inclusive Malaysia, the programme.
Launched on 27th July, has closed its doors after two weeks of intensive camp and mentorship sessions in preparation for yesterday’s finale.
Cradle’s Acting Group Chief Executive Officer, Norman Mattheiu Vanhaecke said, “Cradle as the organizing agency for MYHackathon 2022 will continue to support and guide all startups in Malaysia from ideation to commercialization stage. Cradle will work hand in hand with Mosti to continue giving our support and guidance to all of the winners in making sure the selected solutions can be developed and ultimately, give positive impact to the people.”
Senior Vice President of Ecosystem Development Cradle, Ahmad Kashfi Alwi, said “MYHackathon 2022 has witnessed the growth of new startups with outstanding ideas and skillsets in solving these problem statements and this is aligned with the main objective of MYStartup programme and all of the initiatives headed by Mosti to provide a platform for all startups to innovate and become more critical and competitive.”
