Gobi Partners debuts health tech investments in China's Greater Bay area and Malaysia

Gobi Partners recently spearheaded a Series A funding round for Hong Kong's ImmunoCure and participated in the Series A funding round for Malaysia's ORA. The move strengthened the firm's health tech portfolio with an aggregate investment of US$11.8 million (RM53.8 million), spread across 12 startups within China's Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Southeast Asia - or 'Greater Bay ASEAN'.

Gobi Partners' portfolio includes health tech companies such as Prenetics, Biomed, Panoptic AI, ScolioScan, Gense Technologies, Immuno Cure, and ORA. 

 

ORA in Southeast Asia
ORA is Gobi Partners' recent foray into Southeast Asia's health tech sector. Founded in 2020, ORA operates in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. Through its vertically integrated telehealth platform, ORA sells products and subscriptions to dermatology, male health, and female reproductive health products under three brands, Modeles, andSons, and OVA. Approximately 70% of ORA's revenue is derived from recurring subscription plans.

 

Prenetics in Hong Kong
Prenetics is Hong Kong's first unicorn exit. It was listed in the US in May 2022 and formed a US$200 million (RM910.4 million) joint venture, "Insighta", for multi-cancer early detection screening with scientist Dennis Lo in June 2023.

Currently, most of Gobi Partners' health tech investments are based within the GBA. At the same time, many health tech companies from its portfolio, including Prenetics, Gense and Panoptic AI, were featured in its recent sustainability report.
