Tupai.ai, a Malaysia-based AI company, has launched a personal math tutor service to help secondary school students master Math and improve their SPM grades. In line with the government's aspiration to become a global leader in technology and innovation and recognising the dire need for improvement based on 2023's SPM Math results where 52.1% failed or barely passed. Math, the startup’s mission is to help improve outcomes with the use of AI to teach math.

Tupai.ai in action.Tupai is a fully autonomous AI math tutor that teaches math through natural text conversations. Unlike the well-known ChatGPT, Tupai incorporates the Malaysian Math syllabus and delivers original content developed by local Math educators to ensure accuracy and relevance in teaching students. The system also provides learning recommendations based on the students' past performance, all the while assessing and tracking their performance and preparing them for their SPM examinations.

At their soft launch in Kuala Lumpur during the #Mydigitalmaker Fair 2024 last month, Edmond Yap, co-founder and CEO of Tupai.ai, explained the rationale behind building Tupai. "We truly understand how demotivating it is to struggle with math. So, our team of educators, software developers and designers worked for the last year to build a system that can help students have fun and master the most difficult subject in school - Maths. We hope that helping students improve their math will also give them a boost of confidence in school."

At the launch, students had a chance to interact with Tupai. Syazrul Haquimie, a 17-year-old student from SMK Raja Abdullah in Kuala Lumpur said, "I think it makes learning Math a bit easier than in class and school. I definitely want to use Tupai for my revision."

Tupai's mission is to empower students to unlock their math potential, banishing the fear and anxiety that often come with math. By offering a personalised and conversational learning experience, Tupai looks to change the way Malaysia tackles its math education crisis — one student at a time.

Tupai.ai is currently in beta and is accessible via www.tupai.ai . New users will be offered a 75% discount if they on-board by Nov 30th. It's an opportunity for students to experience the future of learning at a fraction of the cost.
