A Bell Labs study released Dec 3 by Alcatel-Lucent indicates that data traffic on metropolitan access and aggregation networks is set to increase 560% by 2017, driven by demand for video and the proliferation of data centres.
Cloud traffic to dominate data centres: Cisco study
In the third annual Cisco Global Cloud Index (2012 – 2017) issued recently, Cisco forecasts that global cloud traffic, the fastest growing component of data centre traffic, is expected to grow more than fourfold – a 35% combined annual growth rate (CAGR) – from 1.2 zettabytes of annual traffic in 2012 to 5.3 zettabytes by 2017.
Cloud traffic to grow sixfold by 2016: Cisco
Cisco forecasts global data center traffic to grow fourfold and reach a total of 6.6 zettabytes annually by 2016, according to the second annual Cisco Global Cloud Index (2011-2016) issued recently.
