Bangkok Airways goes live with SAP HANA power

SAP AG announced that Bangkok Airways, Thailand's privately-owned regional airline, has implemented SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA to streamline operations, facilitate innovation and run its business in real time.

SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA is an integrated suite of business applications that brings together operational analytics and business transactions on a single in-memory computing platform, the German company said.

Bangkok Airways, a ‘boutique airline,’ is the first private airline that was established in Thailand in 1968. Taking off daily with over 100 flights per day from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport, it Airways flies to more than 20 destinations in Thailand and Asia.

These destinations include popular tourist attractions such as Koh Samui, Phuket, Trat (Koh Chang) and Maldives. Bangkok Airways also flies to World Heritage sites like Sukhothai, Luang Prabang and Siem Reap, SAP said.

Due to the rapid growth of tourism and business investments in the country, air transportation has become an increasingly important aspect contributing to both Thailand's economic growth and its infrastructure development into becoming a major destination that welcomes both business and leisure travellers from all over the world.

Bangkok Airways, regarded as one of the leading full service airlines, positions itself as a boutique airline that aims to offer personalised services and travel experiences, SAP said in its statement.

In order to support business growth and accelerate network and fleet expansion, Bangkok Airways selected SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA to speed up current business processes and translate real-time insights to action.

“With SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA, our team will gain access to real-time analysis on the performance of the business,” said Bangkok Airways president Puttipong Prasartthong-Osoth.

“It’s faster and more accurate than our previous approach, and it will help us make better decisions quickly, strengthen our service offerings, and maintain customer loyalty in the highly competitive aviation industry.

“But the true impact goes beyond this – the velocity of computing on HANA makes it an ideal platform for our future applications, and we expect the business value derived from this speed to transform our business,” he added.

SAP Indochina managing director Liher Urbizu said, “SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA enables Bangkok Airways to access real-time data, even at the most granular level, hence improving business insight and empowering end-user self-service.

“We are confident that SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA will help deliver accelerated business benefits, smarter innovation and faster performance for Bangkok Airways,” he said.
