- Registration for the competition will end on July 20, 2018
- Judges come from MDEC, Pikom, Sitec, Internet Alliance
THE Malaysia Top E-Commerce Merchant Awards (Top ECM 2018) was launched on June 28 at the Selangor Digital Creative Centre (SDCC) in i-City, Shah Alam.
Organised by the Selangor Information Technology & E-Commerce Council (Sitec), Top ECM 2018 seeks to reward the best of Malaysian e-commerce retailers, who are invited to participate and vie for the title of Malaysia’s Top E-Commerce Merchant.
“This comes on the back of the two previous Top ECM events in 2016 and 2017, which were very successful. As the largest state contributor to the national GDP, we are glad to have played an essential role in promoting the growth of e-commerce and the digital economy here,” said Teng Chang Khim, senior executive councillor with the Selangor State Government.
In its third year running, the Top ECM 2018 will feature key individuals in the e-commerce scene on the panel of judges. They will rate shortlisted participants on various performance metrics in areas such as product, marketing, sales volume and more. Performance here will comprise 50% of the total score.
The panel of judges include Yong Kai Ping, chief executive of Sitec; Goh Boon Peng, director of Sitec Academy; Song Hock Koon, director of e-commerce, MDEC; Chan Kee Siak, president of Internet Alliance, and Ganesh Kumar Bangah, chairman of Pikom.
The other 50% of the score will come from the participant’s performance in an online sales contest curated by Sitec, which will run online for 19 days.
The top ten performers are guaranteed a portion of cash prizes to the tune of RM25,000, and other prizes, as well increased exposure to the public, whereas winners in other categories will receive official Sitec recognition.
This year, two additional categories of winners will also be up for grabs - one spot for the Best Startup, and 20 spots for the Top E-Commerce Service Provider.
All winners will be revealed in an awards ceremony on Sept 15 at the Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention 2018 at MITEC.
Registrations end July 20, 2018. Interested parties may visit www.sitec.com.my/topecm2018 for more information.
