Ant Financial appoints new General Manager, Cross-border Business for South and Southeast Asia Alipay

ANT Financial Services Group (“Ant Financial”, or the “Company”) today announced the appointment of Cherry Huang as General Manager, Cross-border Business for South and Southeast Asia of Alipay. Huang will lead business operations and growth in the region to further strengthen Alipay’s payments platform leadership through enabling cross-border transactions.

The appointment of Huang reinforces Ant Financial’s mission to leverage Alibaba’s online marketplace success to benefit brick-and-mortar merchants, and to expand Alipay into the world’s leading payments platform and lifestyle ecosystem in South and Southeast Asia.

Huang joined Alipay in 2016 as the Head of Marketing and Operations of Southeast Asia (SEA). In this role, she has successfully established strategic partnership with Singapore Changi Airport, Thailand King Power Group, Resorts World Sentosa Singapore, etc.

She was appointed in 2017 to become the General Manager for Cross-border Business in South and Southeast Asia, leading the business operations and growth in the region to strengthen Alipay’s payments platform leadership through enabling cross-border transactions. She and her team aim at helping businesses connect with Chinese tourists through targeted marketing outreach via Alipay Discover Platform, and providing Chinese tourists the hassle-free lifestyle aboard just as what they enjoy back home.

Prior to Alipay, Huang has had close to 15 years of experience in travel and tourism, hospitality and payments sectors. Her expertise lays in regional business management, business development, marketing and partnerships.

Once an entrepreneur herself, Huang has broader interests in innovation, technology development and marketing strategy.

Huang graduated from Leiden University in 2002 with a Masters in Business Administration, majoring in International Business. In 2015, she graduated with a doctorate degree in Hotel and Tourism Management from Hong Kong Polytechnic.
