Microsoft appoints new corporate VP for APAC

MICROSOFT Corp has announced Ralph Haupter (pic above) as the new corporate vice-president of its Asia Pacific region.

He succeeds Cesar Cernuda who served as area vice-president of Microsoft Asia Pacific for three years, and who has been promoted to corporate vice-president of Microsoft Latin America, based in Fort Lauderdale.

In his new role, Haupter will lead Microsoft’s business in Asia Pacific which includes 12 subsidiaries in 39 territories and countries, over 3,000 employees, and 100,000 partners, the company said in a statement.

He will be responsible for all of Microsoft’s product, service and support offerings across the region.

“At Microsoft we have a clear mission – to enable every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more,” said Microsoft International president Jean-Philippe Courtois.

“Nowhere is that mission more relevant than in Asia Pacific, with its large, young populations, huge diversity, and creative talents,” he added.

Haupter joins the Asia Pacific region after four successful years as corporate vice-president, chairman, and chief executive officer of Microsoft Greater China Region, based in Beijing.

A Microsoft veteran of 11 years, before his role in China, he served as vice-president of Microsoft Germany.

Prior to that, he was head of Microsoft’s partner division for Microsoft Europe, Middle East and Africa, and general manager of its Small and Midmarket Solutions & Partners Group for Western Europe.

Before joining Microsoft, Haupter worked for IBM, both in Germany and internationally.

“I am honoured, humbled, and thrilled to be given the opportunity to lead Microsoft’s business in one of the most dynamic, diverse, and exciting regions in the world, and look forward to helping our customers here accelerate their digital transformation,” said Haupter.

Haupter will be relocating, with his wife and two children, to Singapore and will commence his new role on July 1, 2016.
