Sime Darby Industrial launches e-commerce platform with Digi

ALIGNED with its strategy to embrace Industrial Revolution 4.0, Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd (SDI) and Digi Telecommunications (Digi) under its digital business arm, Digi-X launched Industrial Valet, a dedicated e-commerce platform selling industrial heavy equipment parts and merchandise directly to customers.

Industrial Valet – www.industrialvalet.com, touted as one of its kind in Malaysia, was created exclusively with SDI’s customers in mind.

It is the answer to the increasingly demanding customers who value speed, efficiency and value-added innovative services. Delivering solutions faster will lower costs, and the savings will eventually be passed on to customers.

The e-commerce platform functions as an additional sales channel, enhancing and adding value to customer experience. SDI’s customers now have the convenience of purchasing parts and merchandise with just a few clicks online.

Going digital has also created a new window of opportunity for SDI to pursue new customers, while closely tracking and monitoring customers’ buying patterns and purchase behaviours, so as to be able to enhance customer experience, optimise customer lifetime value and earn their loyalty.

Currently, there are almost 500 unique parts and merchandise available for online purchase, with more items to be added to the inventory in the near future. Orders will be delivered right to customers’ doorsteps.

“Sime Darby Industrial Malaysia is driving continuous improvement and intensifying efforts to cater to the needs of our customers with the launch of the Industrial Valet e-commerce platform. Industrial Valet was conceptualised for our current customers, and those with whom we have yet to reach out to.

“We are embracing innovation through online and digital platforms, both of which are rapidly becoming the new frontier of growth globally.” said Sime Darby Industrial managing director CK Teoh.

According to Digi chief digital officer Praveen Rajan, “Industrial Valet is a solution unique to SDI, built based on a thorough understanding of SDI’s e-commerce strategy and the changing needs of its customers.

“The platform works as a new digital sales channel available across any smart device and provides SDI a new way to serve its customers in an easy, adaptable and efficient manner – from enabling customers to buy directly off IndustrialValet.com to equipping SDI’s sales team to use it as a digital catalogue when meeting customers.

“Our goal in working with enterprises like SDI is to help them clearly understand, built and leverage digital solutions that make sense for their business growth, and we believe we are in the best position to be their trusted digital partner, sharing insights and best practices learned from our own digitisation experience and development expertise.”

“Digi is pleased to collaborate with Sime Darby in yet another milestone in their digitisation journey, adding to our existing offerings to SDI such as connected vehicles with iFleet, and borderless connectivity for their employees. This is a good example of multi-layered partnerships that we believe in, where we are committed to bring value to all facets of our partners’ business,” added Digi chief executive officer Albern Murty.

SDI collaborated with Digi to transform its legacy business due to Digi’s own experience and key learnings from its digital journey.

Digi is responsible for building the Industrial Valet e-commerce platform, integrating existing backend systems and driving leads to the website. Digi will also consistently improve and add new features to the platform as the online business evolves.
