- Aims to foster stronger collaboration to benefit the digital creative industry
Cyberview Sdn Bhd has announced the launch of the Cyberjaya Digital Creative Circuit (CIRc8) 2024, a convergence of digital creativity and technological innovation. More than just an event, CIRc8 serves as a platform where ideas meet creativity, all within the dynamic ecosystem of Cyberjaya.
As the tech hub developer, Cyberview emphasises that it is in a unique position, quite unlike other developers. A key focus of the company is to ensure that a tech ecosystem is in place, benefiting tech companies of any size, allowing the community at large to thrive in Cyberjaya.
As the preferred tech investment location for Malaysia, Cyberjaya has seen an influx of data centre investments recently, which has provided a boon and established the very backbone of the digital economy in the city. This gives digital creative players located in Cyberjaya an edge as the industry grows and leverages emerging technologies, such as generative AI.
Kamarul Ariffin Abdul Samad, CEO of Cyberview, said, “Although we welcome high-value tech FDIs, we are cognisant of the vital role local tech companies play in building Malaysia’s digital economy in the long run. We are particularly proud of our local tech companies, especially those in the creative industry.”
He added, “We see the demand for digital creative products and services is on the rise, both locally and internationally, hence opening access to new markets and new segments for products and services.” Kamarul also expressed his confidence in local companies and talent, emphasising that Cyberview’s support for this industry is a long-term commitment, evidenced by the creation of the digital creative tech cluster within the Cyberjaya masterplan, introduced in 2019.
Cyberjaya is home to many of Malaysia’s prominent digital creative talents, with animation studios like Monsta Studios, WAU Animation, and Durioo+ gaining global recognition. “I have a strong conviction that a Cyberjaya homegrown unicorn is on the horizon. Hence, Cyberview is doing all we can to nurture companies through various industry support such as this platform we introduced today,” he stressed.
CIRc8 2024 was launched by Teo Nie Ching, deputy minister of Communications, who also witnessed two document exchanges. The first was a Memorandum of Understanding between Animonsta Studios Sdn Bhd and Cyberview Sdn Bhd, and the second was a Letter of Intent between TODAK Holdings Sdn Bhd and Cyberview Sdn Bhd.
Both exchanges signify the deepening of relationships among the parties involved, aimed at ensuring a stronger and more meaningful collaboration to benefit the digital creative industry.
With an estimated crowd of more than 1,500 people, consisting of key players from the animation and e-sports industry, talent, and the community, visitors were entertained for two days with a mini game arcade, an immersive virtual art exhibition by Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA), and meet-the-fans sessions with popular local animation characters.
Other activities included industry updates and a panel discussion titled ‘The Future of Digital Creativity – Navigating Innovation and Human Touch’. The panel featured Shafinaz Salim, head of Technology Hub Development at Cyberview; Nicholas Sagau, chief operating officer of RevMedia Group and vice president of the Malaysia Digital Association; and Dr. Jazmi Jamal, director of Future Creative School at ASWARA.
