Maxis rolls out LTE-powered smartphone offers

- Two phones, Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL, from RM1,099 up with plan
- Phones available at Maxis Centers in KLCC and Taman Tun Dr Ismail, both in KL
MAXIS Berhad has launched two 4G LTE smartphones: The Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL, the first two to be activated on the cellular provider’s 4G LTE (Fourth Generation Long Term Evolution) network.
“We are delighted to offer customers the opportunity to enjoy the first in a series of advanced 4G smartphones hitting the market this [past] weekend,” said Maxis joint chief operating officer Suren J. Amarasekera.
The phones would be available at Maxis Centers in KLCC and Taman Tun Dr Ismail, both in Kuala Lumpur. The Nokia Lumia 920 would cost from RM1,099 and the HTC One XL from RM1,199 depending on the plan consumer go for, Maxis said in a statement.

“With Maxis 4G LTE, customers will experience greater download speeds, smoother HD video streams and lag-free gaming with better online satisfaction,” said Maxis’ other joint chief operating officer, Mark Dioguardi (pic).
“We are already getting very positive feedback from our friendly user trial with most participating customers reporting no buffering or lag in video experience and extremely reliable high speed broadband.
“We are working towards increasing our 4G LTE coverage areas so more customers can look forward to experiencing incredible speed soon,” he claimed.
Customers using Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL in 4G LTE coverage areas will enjoy speeds of up to 75Mbps, with typical speeds of 10 to 30Mbps, five to 10 times faster than 3G. Outside of 4G LTE coverage areas, the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL phones will switch seamlessly onto Maxis’ 3G mobile network which reaches 82% of the population.
The Nokia Lumia 920 is positioned as Nokia’s most innovative Lumia to date, boasting features such as Carl Zeiss lens, PureView technology with Optical Image Stabilisation and a 4.5in PureMotion HD+ display.
The HTC One XL is the first smartphone in HTC’s One series to feature ultra-fast 4G LTE connectivity. It boasts an elegant polycarbonate body that is less than 9mm thick, a 4.7in HD display, coming authentic Beats Audio and a camera with touted low-light excellence.
Maxis launched its 4G LTE service at the stroke of midnight on Jan 1, 2013, making it the first Malaysian telco to launch the service locally.
Maxis’ 4G LTE service is now available in selected parts of the Klang Valley including Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Damansara Utama, Desa Sri Hartamas, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Bandar Sunway and Cyberjaya.
