DNA Video: Review of Yotaphone 2 (soon available in Malaysia)
By Keith Liu June 16, 2015
WHEN we reviewed the Yotaphone 2 back in April, the device was available officially in Singapore, but you needed to purchase it from a third-party online store if you were in Malaysia.
The company now says the Android smartphone cum e-reader will be officially available soon in Malaysia. Its Malaysian website is inviting visitors to register with their e-mail address to be the first to know about the availability, but it stops short of being a pre-order programme.
The pricing however has yet to be revealed, but will most likely be equivalent to Singapore’s pricing of S$1,047.
The Russian-based company recently made headlines when it decided to turn to crowdfunding site Indiegogo in order to make the dual-screen smartphone available in the United States. It achieved its US$50,000 crowdfunding goal in a few hours and now stands at close to US$250,000 with more than 34 days left to the campaign.
If you’re still considering the purchase, check out our DNA Test of the Yotaphone 2 as well as our updated video review. A Bahasa Malaysia version of the video is also available.
The good news is that, since we wrote the review, the company has released a software update for the device to Android 5.0 Lollipop, bringing Google’s latest operating system and new Material design to the Yotaphone 2.
