Theta Edge Berhad (Theta) announced its pivotal role in advancing Malaysia’s digital landscape through the successful implementation of the Jendela initiative. Its subsidiary, Theta Telecoms Sdn Bhd, has completed the deployment and handover of 221 state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructures for Jendela Phase 1 across Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, and Johor. This achievement marks a significant milestone in enhancing Malaysia’s digital connectivity and reinforces Theta’s reputation as a reliable delivery partner for national projects.
According to Theta, its early deployment of the Jendela telecommunications towers stands as a testament to its technical excellence and strong project management capabilities. Achieving this deployment milestone in Kampung Bharu Tok Dor, Jerteh, Terengganu—well ahead of the nine-month schedule—underscores the company’s readiness to deliver critical infrastructure across Malaysia. The benefits of enhanced connectivity are already being realised by rural communities, supporting local economic development and strengthening the foundation for digital growth.
Theta’s swift completion of its first telecommunications tower—three months ahead of the expected timeline—demonstrates its commitment to efficient, high-quality project execution. Originally estimated to take nine months, the team delivered this inaugural tower in under six months, accelerating connectivity in rural regions and closing Malaysia’s digital divide faster than anticipated. To streamline project execution, Theta initiated tower installations concurrently across all seven states in February 2022. This rapid deployment, covering ancillary installations across 221 sites, showcases its operational agility and capability in managing large-scale, time-sensitive infrastructure projects.
Nuraslina Zainal Abidin, group managing director and CEO of Theta Edge Berhad, stated, “Our work on the Jendela project is central to Malaysia’s digital advancement. By enhancing internet connectivity and building robust telecommunications infrastructure, particularly in underserved rural areas, we are empowering communities, small entrepreneurs, and students with vital access to digital resources.”
She continued, “Theta’s approach aligns seamlessly with the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDigital). Our commitment to innovation and strategic delivery not only supports national targets but also firmly positions Theta as a leader in advancing Malaysia’s digital economy.”
According to Theta, its success with Jendela Phase 1 has solidified public confidence in its ability to execute complex, large-scale projects—an essential factor as the company prepares to bid for Jendela Phase 2. With a proven track record and a clear commitment to operational excellence, the company is positioned as a trusted delivery partner for the next phase of Malaysia’s digital transformation.
Theta’s involvement in the Jendela initiative exemplifies its commitment to Malaysia’s digital future. By working closely with the government and other stakeholders, the company stated that it has successfully delivered and accelerated the deployment of critical infrastructure to support the next phase of growth. Not only has this collaboration boosted connectivity, but it has also catalysed economic growth in rural areas, where businesses and communities now have access to the digital tools required for development.
Through effective management, innovation, and a results-driven approach, Theta continues to raise customer satisfaction and expand its market reach. The foundation laid by Jendela Phase 1 has not only strengthened its market position but also set the stage for continued growth as it pursues projects that drive Malaysia’s digital future forward.
