Cloudmatika offers Acronis-powered BaaS in Indonesia

• Japan’s Cloudmatika cloud service entered Indonesian market in Oct
• Targeted at SMEs, but enterprises and public sector show interest too

 
ACRONIS has announced the availability of Acronis Backup Cloud in Indonesia through a new partnership with the Cloudmatika cloud computing service, allowing it to offer Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS).
 
Cloudmatika is operated by the Tsukaeru Group of Japan. The service was incorporated in Indonesia in October as a 100% local limited company (PT Awan Solusi Informatika) in partnership with the Indonesian ISKA Group of Companies.
 
The service is provided from two geographically dispersed data centres in Central Jakarta, ensuring maximum availability and security of all customer data stored within the Cloudmatika network, Acronis said in a statement.
 
Acronis Backup Cloud customers establish direct connections with the data centres and no data leaves the country at any point, the company said.
 
“After a successful deployment of Acronis Backup Cloud in Japan, our group of companies recorded fast-growing sales and improved customer satisfaction,” said Cloudmatika chief executive officer Ted Hilbert.
 
“It became obvious that we needed to build on that success by launching Acronis-powered cloud services in Indonesia as well.
 
“Although our main target customers are SMEs (small and medium enterprises), we got a lot of attention from enterprise and government customers during the pre-launch,” he added.
 
According to the annual SMB Cloud Insights research released by Odin earlier this year, the small and medium business (SMB) cloud services market in Indonesia is predicted to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30% in the next three years from Rp15 trillion (US$1.2 billion) in 2015 to Rp33 trillion (US$2.7 billion) by 2018.
 
Acronis said it is committed to enabling service providers to offer a complete data protection set of solutions, including backup, disaster recovery and file sync and share.
 
It believes that complete data protection not only requires the most advanced data safety, but also data security to protect companies from outside threats, and data privacy to ensure that they stay in control of their data at all times – in transit, on mobile devices and in the cloud.
 
To achieve this, it leverages a highly flexible and open architecture that supports easy integration with leading third-party solutions, the latest global encryption standards including AES256, and private and secure search, it added.
 
“Acronis data protection solutions are designed to ensure data safety, security and privacy, while making them simple for service providers and distributors to sell as new services to increase revenue,” said Rudi Rangkuti, Indonesia country manager at Acronis.
