The Suunto 9 Peak flagship smartwatch descends on Malaysia

THE LATEST flagship smartwatch by Suunto, the 9 Peak, has arrive and is targeted at those who crave “adventure and peak experiences” in a sleek form factor.
The premium smartwatch is the the brand’s thinnest and most powerful to date, it said in a statement.
Inspired by the Suunto 9 Baro, the 9 Peak boasts up to 170 hours of GPS recording capacity (in tour mode) and attains a full battery charge in one hour, the company claimed.
According to Heikki Norta, president of Suunto, the 9 Peak is a culmination of the Suunto 9 Baro but in a smaller, streamlined form factor. The latest flagship is 37% thinner and 36% lighter than the Suunto 9 Baro, the Finnish company said.
“Building on our heritage of 85 years crafting products for adventure, we are proud to release this watch with a new minimalistic Nordic design,” he said.
Packed into the Suunto 9 Peak is 80-plus sport modes that go from running, hiking and mountain biking to skiing and swimming.
There are customisable screens to show the most relevant data for your exercise and it sports intelligent battery management, accurate wrist-based heart rate monitoring, and on-watch navigation capabilities, Suunto said.
On top of that, the Suunto 9 Peak features blood oxygen level measurements, backlight that adjusts itself depending on lighting condition and a watch strap with a new metal fastening pin.
The watch also integrates with the Suunto App, which enables users to plan routes with sport-specific heatmaps and popular starting points.
Besides that, the mobile app allows user to discover new locations, create points of interests and can look back on previous adventures with personal heatmaps. Suunto said that the sync speed between the 9 Peak and the app is now doubled with Bluetooth 5.
The Suunto 9 Peak will be available in two different styles with four nature inspired colors: Granite Blue Titanium and Birch White Titanium, made with sapphire glass and grade 5 titanium; and All Black and Moss Gray, made with sapphire glass and stainless steel.
The first two are priced at US$888 (RM3,199), while the second pair go for US$679 (RM2,799).
