Bank Rakyat has announced its move into a new era of digital banking, powered by CelcomDigi Bhd, marking a significant milestone in its digitalization journey, as it aims to future-proof its banking operations and redefine the customer experience through 5G connectivity.

The execution will see CelcomDigi supporting Bank Rakyat with end-to-end smart banking solutions for all connectivity, driving the bank’s overall operational efficiencies and delivering high-quality services to customers with seamless and swift transactions, even when they are on the move.

“Bank Rakyat has always prioritised customers’ needs through the enhancement of our customer’s journey by providing relevant financial or digital solutions in line with the bank’s digitalisation and great customer experience agenda outlined in its five-year strategic plan, BR25,” said Dr Mohammad Hanis Osman, CEO of Bank Rakyat.

He expects the decision will further enhance customers' banking experience with stable technology applications and a secure business environment, especially in extending financial services to the unbanked, unreached, and underserved communities.

“This initiative also aims to address financial inclusion and catalyse the advancement and flourishing of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs),” Mohammad Hanis added.

Subsequently, Bank Rakyat is poised to explore IoT opportunities, especially in the realms of cloud and cybersecurity solutions. These initiatives will create avenues for additional digitalization solutions and applications, fortifying the bank's digital capabilities, improving customer touchpoints, and elevating competitiveness in the market. Ultimately, these efforts will benefit its customers and employees.
