CloudMile opens first of its kind cloud CoE in Malaysia

• Offers participants access to digital learning paths at no cost
• CoE set to benefit 300k Malaysians by 2026 via upskilling programme

CloudMile has announced the opening of its CloudMile Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Malaysia, serving customers across Southeast Asia (SEA). The firm claims that the CoE, is a first-of-its-kind initiative in the cloud industry, aimed at helping businesses of all sizes advance their digital competitiveness through upskilling programmes for AI and cloud-first practices.

The  opening, attended by guests including Raymond Siva, head of Digital Investment, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC); Phoebe Yeh, representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia; Patrick Wee, country manager, Malaysia, Google Cloud; and Megawaty Khie, director, Channels and Strategic Partnerships, Southeast Asia, Google Cloud, emphasised the importance of digital transformation and innovation for Malaysia's economic growth.

Through the CoE launch, CloudMile showcased real-world applications of data, ESG, and generative AI, empowering businesses and enlightening the public about the potential of cloud technology.

The CoE is expected to benefit 300,000 Malaysians by 2026 through upskilling programmes supported by Google Cloud, CloudMile, and Trainocate Malaysia, offering participants access to digital learning paths at no cost and the ability to acquire crucial skills and earning industry-recognised badges that will open doors to new career possibilities.

According to the company, Malaysia Airports enlisted its help in April 2022 for a migration project to digitally transform into a modern workforce organisation without disruption. Collaborations between Malaysia Airports and CloudMile have enabled personalized, digital-first offerings to travelers, with adjacent industries expected to influence tourism growth in Malaysia through online travel services.

Furthermore, the Google Workspace Migration project, led by CloudMile, is driving digital transformation at Malaysia Airports. This initiative has been recognised by the esteemed Global CIO as the "Project of the Year" under the “Best IT Project in Transportation” category for its implementation and subscription of digital workspace and collaboration tools. CloudMile also received the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2023 for the same migration project.

Vijaykumar Dayinde, chief information officer of Malaysia Airports, emphasised the strategic selection of CloudMile as a long-term partner and Google Cloud as their primary cloud provider.
