GHL announced that all its merchant terminals are able to accept Apple Pay, without extra charges or additional integration or programming required.
As mobile payment service Apple Pay was launched on Aug 9 in Malaysia, this has enabled contactless payment with iOS devices such as iPhones and Apple Watches, the company said in a statement.
Kevin Lee, chief executive officer of GHL Malaysia, said, “We believe that the launch of Apple Pay is timely following the reopening of borders and the growing trend of cashless transactions.
“With the versatility of Apple Pay, customers can easily perform transactions using Apple Pay at any NFC-based card payment terminal.
“All of GHL merchant terminals are Apple pay ready,” Lee said.
Malaysia is the second country in Southeast Asia after Singapore to launch Apple Pay, with the service supported by cards issued by Maybank, AmBank and Standard Chartered at the moment.
