Three key takeaways you may not know about the Maxis and Digi Q3 results: Page 2 of 3

The chart above showed that Digi experienced declines in several areas -- but there was one area that it experienced a quarter-on-quarter (qoq) drop for the first time.

It's not the overall subscriber base, as it experienced qoq decline in 2015 and in 2014. It is not service revenue either.

What it experienced for the first time is a qoq decline in its Internet subscribers -- those who subscribes to some form of Internet plans or who are using their Digi phone line to surf the web.

Was it something that should be alarming to the industry? Probably not. While data services are Malaysian mobile operators' new source of growth driver, it is a segment that is immune to decline. In fact, Maxis suffered a qoq decline in their mobile internet subscriber base three times over the past 9 quarters.
