GiveReceipt gets CIP 500 grant only 3mths after going live

MALAYSIAN startup GiveReceipt said it has been awarded an RM500,000 grant by Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd under the Cradle Investment Programme 500 (CIP 500). [RM1 = US$0.24 at current rates]

GiveReceipt, which describes itself as Asean’s first e-receipt platform, launched three months ago and now claims nearly 500 active users to date.

It had received an undisclosed seed round of funding from investment firm Qeerad, it said in a statement.

GiveReceipt was founded by David Sin and Belinda So, who said they launched the platform to help small businesses.

GiveReceipt allows users to quickly create and send out digital e-receipts via email. Features include the input of company registration numbers and GST (Goods and Services Tax) support for up to 10 countries, and counting.

Users simply sign up for an account and key in their company details. With input of the transaction, item and price, GiveReceipt automatically generates and sends out a PDF e-receipt to the customer's email address.

“We’re very thankful to be a part of CIP 500 – it’s very exciting to see others believing in the solution and product we’ve created,” said Sin.

“It’s a huge opportunity, and from this point onwards, we’re going to have to move fast and grow exponentially across the region,” he added.

Last month, the team launched GiveReceipt Premium, which allows users to send more receipts per month. A premium account starts from RM15 per month.

The service is currently available as a web application, but the company said it is working on apps for the Android and iOS platforms.
