GoGet takes action against phishing scam: Multiple fraudulent websites discovered

GoGet, a digital staffing and recruitment platform catering to gig, part-time, and full-time workers, has uncovered the presence of malicious actors. According to the startup, these individuals have created several phishing websites that closely mimic its official site, engaging in fraudulent activities aimed at phishing for sensitive information.

The first incident came to light when a concerned individual, a potential victim of the scam, reached out to GoGet on January 10, 2024, through the help and support channel to verify the authenticity of the communications they were receiving.

The first fraudulent website, identified as goget.network, misused the GoGet company's name and is actively reaching out to individuals via WhatsApp and potentially many other communication tools, presenting itself as "GoGet, an HR company from Malaysia currently promoting jobs in Singapore." The perpetrators claim to be recruiting agents to assist members in job distribution.

Action taken by GoGet:
Upon discovering this malicious impersonation, GoGet initiated immediate action to protect its users and the public at large. The incident was reported to MCMC, relevant authorities, and the police to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. Following the report submitted to Google Safe Browsing (safebrowsing.google.com), the site was officially detected as a phishing site on January 13, 2024.

Unfortunately, malicious actors struck again on January 27, 2024. A vigilant member of the general public reported the discovery of a second phishing site, offergoget.network, to GoGet. This prompted the GoGet team to promptly take action by reporting the incident to Google Safe Browsing and other relevant authorities, including MCMC.

Warning to the public:

GoGet condemns these fraudulent activities and alerts the public to the dangers posed by this scam. The perpetrators are using a Singaporean phone number, +6590757312, and may be utilising other numbers as well.

Clarification on Job offers:
GoGet emphasises that any job offers extended through this phishing scam are illegitimate. Therefore, it urges the public not to trust these communications and refrain from providing any personal information on the fraudulent website.

Official emails from GoGet will come from domain goget.my (not goget.network or goget.online) GoGet’s authentic website is www.goget.my

If users encounter any suspicious activity related to this scam, GoGet advises them to report it to https://support.goget.my/ immediately. The public’s cooperation is crucial in helping the firm combat this fraudulent scheme.
