  • Participants from startups, regulatory bodies, communications & tech providers
  • Opportunities for collaboration and network-building between participants

Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry delivering his keynote at INsights@AxiataAxiata Group Bhd hosted its first-ever INsights@Axiata forum on 21 Sept, presented as an innovative solution-centered platform focused primarily on the advancement of digital inclusion. The forum was coupled with the widely anticipated Smart Nation Expo 2023, held at MITEC Kuala Lumpur.

Notably, the event gathered a wide spectrum of participants from across the digital ecosystem composed of startups, SMEs, regulatory bodies, communications, and technology solutions providers. Among the discussions held were those about core trends in technology, including AI, data analytics, fintech, infrastructure, and sustainability.

The forum pushed for Malaysian SMEs to harness the power of digital services to boost productivity and enhance growth opportunities. Participants examined how SMEs and other businesses can leverage emerging tech trends along with innovative business models, with the objective of building a more resilient and forward-facing SME sector. There were also opportunities for collaboration and network-building for participants.

Aligning INsights@Axiata with NIMP2030

"I commend Axiata for organising this forum, which aligns with the objectives of the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP2030) to develop a resilient nation that embodies prosperity, inclusivity and sustainability," said Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry at the event. "By embracing technology and innovation, fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors, and nurturing our digital talent, we can widen digital inclusivity and accelerate investments and trade in the digital age."

The NIMP2030 was presented earlier this month, with aims that include accelerating the development of an inclusive ecosystem that integrates Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) into the value chain. This inclusive approach could potentially involve leveraging digital technologies and access to digital platforms, promoting digital inclusion for SMEs, and ensuring they are part of Malaysia's industrial transformation.

Shahril Ridza Ridzuan, chairman of Axiata, reasserted that one of the objectives of the forum was to strengthen the ecosystem. "In fulfilling our promise of Advancing Asia, we are committed to our role in enabling a robust digital ecosystem, and providing innovative digital solutions that advances an inclusive digital society for all Malaysians and the region."
