The weaker device sales have actually helped Digi moderate its cost of goods sold.
During Q1 2016, Digi’s cost of goods sold stood at RM482 million, about RM56 million (11%) lower than the fourth quarter of 2015; and RM70 million (13%) lower than Q1 2015. [RM1 = US$0.26 at current rates]
Digi said that the first quarter also saw an increased focus on SIM-only packages and a shift in demand for more affordable smartphones.
